Privacy policy

1. Data kept on your device

This data is stored locally, in the app's private storage. It is neither sent to Molven Apps nor synced anywhere.

• Settings: language, theme, volume, display options.
• Favorites: the workouts you save.
• History: date, duration and type of each session, test results (distance, level, aerobic speed, estimated VO₂max, power), the effort rating and notes you enter.
• Athlete profile, optional: sex, age bracket, weight and aerobic speed. They are only used to place your results against reference benchmarks and to compute your paces. You can leave them empty.
• Team mode: the first names entered by the coach and the level each person reached are saved in the history of the coach's phone, and nowhere else.

To delete this data: Settings → Reset in the app, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes everything.

2. Usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics)

To learn which features are used, the app sends technical events to Google Firebase: session started, completed or abandoned, session type, favorite added or removed, team test completed, ad shown, rating prompt, theme or language changed.

Each event is tied to a randomly generated installation identifier, the device model, the OS and app versions, and an approximate location (country, region) derived from the IP address. No name, no e-mail address, no test result and no note is ever sent.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used. Retention at Google: at most 14 months for data tied to an identifier. You can reset your device's advertising identifier at any time (see section 4).

3. Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes, a technical report is sent to Google Firebase: error trace, device model, OS and app versions, memory state. It does not contain the content of your workouts. Reports are kept for 90 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in fixing defects.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Burst shows a banner at the bottom of some screens, an ad when the app opens and, occasionally, an ad between two screens. These ads are served by Google AdMob and its partners.

• In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent dialog managed by Google appears on first launch. Without consent, ads are non-personalized: they do not rely on your advertising identifier. You can change your choice from that dialog, available in Settings wherever it is required in your region.
• On iOS, Apple asks for your permission before any ad tracking ("Allow tracking" prompt). Declining does not limit the app.
• Advertising identifier: with your consent, Google uses your device's advertising identifier to select ads and measure their display. To reset or disable it: Android → Settings → Google → Ads; iOS → Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

5. What Burst does not do

• No account, no e-mail address, no password.
• No access to your precise location, contacts, photos or health data (Apple Health, Google Fit).
• No sale or rental of data to third parties.
• No tracking across apps or websites without your consent.

6. Recipients and transfers

The only recipients of data are the Google services listed above (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, AdMob), acting as processors or, for advertising, as joint controllers. Their servers may be located outside the European Union, notably in the United States; transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google adheres.

7. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability. For data stored on your device, you exercise them directly in the app (section 1). For data processed by Google, you can reset your advertising identifier or withdraw consent (section 4), or write to us at the address below: we will forward your request to Google when we cannot answer it ourselves.

You can also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your country. In France this is the CNIL (cnil.fr).

8. Children

Burst is made for athletes and coaches. It is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data about them. In team mode, the students' first names entered by a teacher stay on the teacher's phone and are never transmitted.

9. The burst-interval-timer.web.app website

This site is hosted by Google Firebase Hosting, which keeps technical connection logs (IP address, requested page, date) for a limited time to run and secure the service. The site uses no cookies and no audience measurement tool. The aerobic speed calculator runs entirely in your browser: the values you enter are not sent.

10. Changes

The date at the top of this page shows the current version. For a significant change, such as a new third-party service, the app will tell you at the next launch.
